Members of the Yorktown Police Department received a report of a person in the middle of Route 132 asking motorists to call law enforcement for an emergency. Responding officers were dispatched to the area, where they met with 26-year-old Ariel Arias and an Old Yorktown Road resident, who were in an alleged domestic dispute.
Police said that investigation into the incident led to the arrest of Arias, a Mattapan, Mass. resident, for the alleged domestic assault. Further investigation involving a police canine search of Arias’ car led investigators to the discovery of what is alleged to be cocaine, Oxycodone and marijuana.
Arias was transported to Yorktown Police Headquarters, where he was charged with a felony count of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, as well as assault, criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of marijuana, all misdemeanors.
Following arraignment in Yorktown Town Court, a Temporary Order of Protection was issued for Arias’ victim and he was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $7,500 bail.
